Do you want your Bergen County business website to have more search engine visibility and get found by more potential customers or clients than ever before?
Here are five (5) basic tips any business can implement providing they are willing to invest the time and the effort in the value of their website.
~ Single out one or two main competitors who rank higher than you. Closely examine what they are doing on their website that sets them apart from you. Also examine their products or service offerings. Something is setting them apart from you and you absolutely need to dumb it down and figure out what it is. Whether it is better brand identity, or a more rock solid reputation, you need to know this so you can formulate your own plan to set your company apart from the rest and rise up to the top of the heap.
~ Take a look at your own website. Are you using the most relevant meta tags to reflect your content and how you want to target your audience? Title tags, description meta tags and keywords within your content are often the most overlooked areas where you can improve your ranking.
~ Figure out who your target market audience is. Again another overlooked area. 80% of the time when I ask clients who is your target audience they respond by telling me I don’t know, I guess everyone. Wrong. Unless you can identify and find your niche, you won’t be able to successfully target the right audience for your business.
~ Use relevant alt tags when uploading images and videos to your website. Most of the time images are just uploaded as abc.jpg (as an example) something irrelevant to what is actually being displayed. Same with videos. If you do not take care and accurately give a good descriptive alt tag and title tag to the image or videos you are losing out on valuable search engine visibility.
~ Keep your content up to date and upload fresh content regularly. This means update your page content regularly and also post in your blog regularly. Kick your content up a couple of notches by revamping and posting relevant content on a steady basis. This keeps a website “fresh” as opposed to “stale”. Fresh is good – it improves your search engine visibility. Stale – well, not so much.
