You’ve had your attorney website for a while now, and it has all the usual components – your bio, practice area section, contact form, and a blog that you write in from time to time. Pretty much what everyone else in the legal industry has.
So why are your competitors lining page one and page two of Google search and your website / law office cannot be found?
From the Eye of an Experienced SEO Expert: It’s Very Simple!
Your website is lacking the basic fundamentals that Google needs in order to see what your website is about, and index it properly. And if Google can’t see it, no one else will!!
So, What Do You Do About This?
Time for an overhaul!
You wouldn’t dream of coming into court unprepared with no strategy by which to argue your client’s case………….. so why is your website coming to Google unprepared to send the right message, attract the right clientele, and help you grow your business??
Addressing the Pain Points:
- Navigation – is it confusing? Unclear? Potential clients aren’t coming to your website to go on a fishing expedition. If they cannot find what they are looking for, they will go to another attorney’s website and give them their business.
- Are you using geo-targeting to attract local clients?
- Bland generic menu sections such as Legal Services doesn’t cut it. Are your areas of practice clearly laid out so people can find them? Do they explain in enough detail what you offer so the potential client gets a clear picture of what you offer?
- Have you tried to condense everything on one page in an attempt to take a shortcut when designing your website – because it was “too much work”?
- Worse, did your designer mash all your information together or throw all your practice areas on one page?
- What’s going on with your blog? Do you post in it regularly? Or just whenever?
- Does your blog address questions that people ask, with a solution and a CTA for them to contact you?
- Does your contact form work? Is your phone number clickable / tappable?
- Is your website slow? Difficult to navigate? Does it get crawled regularly by Google?
I could go on but hopefully as you read you’re seeing my point.
It’s All About the Structure and the Strategy
- Your attorney website needs to have clear organized structure. Not a hodgepodge of links. Every area of practice needs its own page, interlinked. In fact, the structure should be such that all pages interlink. It’s called internal backlinking.
- Your attorney blog should contain high quality, evergreen articles designed and written to connect with website visitors – they have a problem, you address that problem, and you present a solution – and then encourage them to contact you with a clear CTA.
- Local authority – do you have a niche in your legal practice? Are you the resident expert in a particular field? Then let people know that through your carefully curated content creation strategy.
- Do you have a Google Business Profile? Is it completely and thoroughly filled out? Does the information correspond clearly to what’s on your website? Do you update it regularly with posts to signal to both people and Google that you are active and relevant?
- If you serve a local area / audience, does your page content strategically reflect that? You don’t need a million local pages or spammy lists of towns in your content. You need strategically placed local mentions that tie in with your services, among other things.
- Does every page and post on your website have relevant meta titles and meta descriptions clearly designed to signal to Google what you do? Google can’t map your relevance if you don’t send it the right signals!
- How is your technical SEO? Have you created a schema for Google to digest? Does your attorney website load fast? Does it have SSL? And one of the most important – is it mobile friendly?
Again, I could go on and on about what it takes to make your attorney website the best it can be. Want people to find you without knowing your law firm’s name?
That will never happen unless these pain points are addressed and monitored.
